Matthias Kostner (°1982, St. Ulrich, Gröden Valley ‘Val Gardena’ in South Tyrol, Northern Italy) is an Italian artist.
The talented sculptor was influenced by his artist family, whose roots date back to the sixteenth century. Matthias Kostner discovered his passion for sculpture early on. He cultivated his talent from 1996 to 2000 at the Vocational School for Sculpture in St. Ulrich, where he learned traditions and techniques, and developed his craftsmanship. In 2009, Matthias was ready to spread his wings and operate as an independent artist, opening his own workshop in St. Ulrich, where he has since brought his creative vision to life.
The artist creates realistic sculptures that place everyday people at the forefront.
He embodies the fusion of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary expression. The artist is deeply rooted in the tradition of the famous wood carving art of Val Gardena, dating back to the sixteenth century.
